Biography

Natalie Loveless is an artist, curator, writer and teacher.  Her wall-drawing installations, performance actions, video works and curatorial projects have been presented internationally in festivals, galleries and artist-run centers in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Recent work explores feminist embodiment and material entanglement in the everyday. Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Loveless lives and works in Edmonton, where she teaches contemporary art and theory at the University of Alberta.

 

Statement

As a body-based performance artist I am often, though not always, called upon to be mobile: to move my body from one location to another in a transnational circuit of cultural capital.  This is not a circuit that easily accommodates children.  And yet here I am.  Where is my son?  Drink (With) Me is a 30-minute performance-lecture speaking to the materiality of motherhood and is part of a three-year project living motherhood and/as art.
